Aalto was one of the very first patterns I created for Sewsome. I wanted to design a T-shirt that is truly oversized, not just slightly relaxed. And that is exactly what Aalto is. Oversized, comfortable, and incredibly cute. Despite its generous fit, the length remains practical and doesn't feel dress-like.
The Aalto pattern is available in sizes 80–164 cm, allowing you to sew for everyone from toddlers to teenagers using the same pattern. If you like, you can also add a small chest pocket as a fun detail.
The pattern is designed for knit fabrics. My personal favourite is a stable cotton jersey with elastane, which gives the shirt a bit more structure. The relaxed fit works well with many different fabrics, but the result is especially nice when sewn from a slightly firmer knit.
Aalto is a comfortable everyday T-shirt that works well in a variety of outfits. On cooler days, it is also fun to layer over a long-sleeved shirt for a relaxed and playful look.
The pattern is also well suited for beginners. The detailed, photo-based sewing instructions guide you through each step, making it easy to achieve a great result even if garment sewing is still new to you.
